Methodology: We manage to interview 8 people outside Serangoon Central. We interviewed 8 people in pairs. we interviewed people above the age of 20 to 50.
We asked the followings question:
- Are you married? if yes, how long have you been married?
- If you have less then 3 childrens, what is stopping you from having more than more 2 childrens?
- Why do you think people in singapore are not giving birth
- Why do you want to have children? If you dont, why not?
- Compare with other countries EG. In australia, both parent share 18 months of paid maternity leave. Do you think it's a good idea for Singapore?Why?
Results&Analysis:We interviewed 8 people, 2 were married for at least 4 years, 4 were still single looking, one was getting married soon, and the other one did not want to get as she was a career woman. out of 8 people we interviewed, only 3 people want to have more than 3 children, the other 2 want to have only one children as they said the second one would be very troublesome, the other 2 didn't want to have any children at all.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, We found out that there were fewer people who wanted to have more than 1 children,as they are afraid of the high amount of money needed to raise up a second child. Some say that it is too troublesome, as the first one already given them a lot of trouble. Due to the high amount of money needed for 1-3 children,many people would rather not have a child or stay single. The government can give high maternity leave to encourage people to have children.
Leonard: As the leader, I did most of the typing, interviewed 2 people,and make up the questions for my group.
Jomund: I helped my leader correct the errors that he typed wrongly , interviewed 2 people and did a portion of the typing, together with my leader.
Poh heng: I helped my leader to interview 2 people and did some research on other blogs.
Amirul: I interviewed the last 2 people and did research together with Poh Heng.
